 PeopleSoft's board has approved an improved bid, worth $26.50 a share, after 5 previous offers, ranging in value from $7.7bn to $9.4bn. Oracle was winning the support of 60% PeopleSoft shareholders. Larry Ellison was initially making a $5.1bn offer in June 2003. The merged companies are second only in size to SAP in the enterprise software market
