  A speeding tanker truck hauling 8,600 gallons of gasoline hit an embankment and exploded into flames at 3:42 a.m.

  Earthquake hit at approximately 8:04 p.m. and was felt widely throughout Northern California centering 6 miles from Milpitas, and 9 miles from SJ City Hall
 The epicenter was in the foothills east of San Jose, not far from the home of San Jose Mayor Reed whose pictures fell off the walls. Fire Dept. had responded to several calls about broken pipes and potential flooding
