  3 people, including Sgt. Paul Starzyk, were killed after a domestic disturbance at Elegant Hair Designs salon near the Martinez Reservoir
 Police responded to a woman that reported that her ex-husband was trying to kill her. 2 officers were confronted by a man with a gun. The gunman fled to a apartment complex and shots were fired during an altercation inside an apartment. Starzyk was a 12-year Martinez Police Department veteran. Felix Sandoval Jr. was fatally shot after he stormed the adjacent Elegant Hair Design seeking his estranged wife. 44-year-old Catalina Torres, a cousin of Sandoval's wife wwas killed. When officers arrived Sandoval confronted them with the gun
