  The authorities have removed a contentious war memorial in Tallinn, despite overnight protests that left one person dead
  Estonians see memorial as a reminder of decades of Soviet rule. Russia says it should not be removed. The move provoked a condemnation from Russian officials and lawmakers. 40 people were injured and 300 arrested during clashes as police used tear gas to disperse ethnic Russian demonstrators
