  International Astronomical Union's (IAU) general assembly voted to strip Pluto of its status as a planet
 After years of wrangling, astronomers voted on a reclassification of the solar system. Pluto was demoted to the status of a 'dwarf planet' The dwarf planets also include Ceres, the largest asteroid, and UB 313, nicknamed Xena, that is larger than Pluto. The number in that category could quickly swell.
