Blast traps 66 in mine In a remote, semi-desert region an explosion ripped through a coal mine two miles underground
8 miners who had been near the mine's exit were rescued and hospitalized.
There were 65 miners trapped throughout the mine, near the town of Sabinas.
Rescuers had not been able to make contact with the trapped miners.
Grupo Mexico owns the mine.
Rescue teams were taking turns removing debris that had clogged the steep shaft.
