  The parliament has elected conservative Shinzo Abe as the nation's new prime minister by 339 of 475 votes
 Abe guaranteed the position after winning leadership election for the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. Abe ,52, is Japan's youngest prime minister since World War II, replacing the flamboyant Junichiro Koizumi. As the results were announced, Shinzo Abe stood up and bowed to members of parliament
